The Special Airport Oberpfaffenhofen is one of the oldest airports with a long tradition in Bavaria. It was founded by Claude Dornier in 1936. At the site a variety of technically sophisticated aircraft have been developed and manufactured, from the vertical take-off aircraft to research and commercial aircraft. Today the Special Airport Oberpfaffenhofen contributes as a factory and research airport to the fact that Bavaria is one of the most important locations of the aerospace industry in Europe. On the Special Airport Oberpfaffenhofen there are about 3.000 direct jobs today.
